I recently purchased a titled 1936 truck. I has a split windshield and therefore I was informed that the truck is a 1937 model. However, the grille and radiator are original Henry 1936 parts. Any chance the factory put the truck together this way? All the hardware was fitted correctly. Anybody ever see something like this happen? Bob

I do not think that the factory did this. Somewhere between 1936 and present someone made some changes. If you will post the frame number (leave off the last two digits), we can tell you for sure what year the pickup is. The frame number is on the top left close to the steering gear.

The serial number that you provided falls in the range of the 1938 serial numbers. Is this the number from the frame, transmission or the title? Here is a link to a site that has the Ford serial numbers. http://www.vanpeltsales.com/FH_web/flathead_home.htm

Tom, The serial number is frame and title. Can you break down that number for more clairification? Bob

I'm going to speculate that it is a 38, and the same craftsman who fabricated the new pickup bed thought the 36 grille was better looking than the 38. I do wonder where the giant V8 on the hood side came from. Some interior photos of the instruments (if original) might help date the cab.

After looking again, I noticed the hood is a 37, hence the giant V8.

Bob, the serial number is just that. Ford started the V-8 serial numbers at 18-001 in 1932 and continued the sequence until 1946 when the 221 cu in engine was discontinued in the USA. This link takes you to a site that breaks down the serial numbers into the year of manufacture. http://www.vanpeltsales.com/FH_web/flathead_home.htm

I Think it is a 37 PICK-UP,because the moulding on the cowl and doors match up, 38 and 39 are different, the windshield would fit either 37 or 38 and 39 are all the same, someone installed a 36 NOSE on it, it hard to tell with out more pictures, there are more difference on the inside, my 3 cents worth, 37RAGTOPMAN an KEEP on FORDIN!!!! and if the numbers are from 1938, they used a later frame and running gear,
