VIEWING MULTIPLE TOPICS ON SCREEN: You can choose to see more than 10 Topics at a time ... Log In and choose "Preferences" from the top bar on the Forum page. Scroll down and Change the "Default Topics Returned" parameter to 25 or 50, and save the changes. Since this setting is stored in your browser 'cookies' (if enabled), it seems to use that stored value even if you are not logged in. So, if you use a PC that you haven't logged into the forum from, the setting still seem to remain at the default.
EXTERNAL PHOTO LINKS ON FORUM: You can still use external photo links in your posts on the new forum. They follow the rules of any link in that they have to have the URL link qualified down to the full image file name (example: .jpg). The links will open in a new browser window, the same as an uploaded image attached to a post. Since an image attachment to any post does not display inline with the post, the results are the same. You can use multiple external links within a post. This link is from photos on a site from Don Clink's 'Deuce@75' albums:

Using links from photo sites such as Photobucket can help in "size" issue with uploaded attachment files. For best viewing in web browsers, photos should be around the 800x600 pixel range, and probably not more than 1024x768. Most cameras today store HUGE jpg image files, as the default settings are in the 7, 8, 10, and 12Mb image sizes. The image files that are then attached are very large, and the browser can't display the full image size without using the scroll bars. Use the re-sizing functions of your photo editing software to reduce the image to 800x600, which reduces the file sixe and the image load time in the browser. Don uses Google's free Picassa3 software, which is an excellent photo management product. All of the photo albums of the Deuce, Grand National, and Auburn that are links on the NORG site were built using Picassa's web creation functions. And it's free? (THANKS to Don Clink for the info!)

On this page Members can add optional information such as their City,State, Country; Occupation; Hobbies: list a Homepage; list AOL Instant Messanger Handle; Signature; "Make Email Address viewable to others;" and even change the number of Default Topics shown on a page. WHEN others click on your profile, they will see this information.

Hi Gang. I just rescued a 21 stud flathead from a '34 Ford being rodded. It is the '32-'36 style, with iron heads (40-6050 with what could be a "B" suffix, Ford script and a large raised "F" above the numbers). Have not pulled intake to see if this is a '32-'34 or '35-36 block. Has '35 flat top distrib, right front vent pan, and trans stamped maybe * I8I2T3265*. Can I tell if this is a commercial/truck engine, or a car block with iron heads? Does it matter? My new '33 thru '39 V8 Club books really helped so far. Thnx, Jerry G

Distributor sounds like a 68 which is a '36 item. The iron heads, distributor and trans are all things that can be changed through the years. If there are no block off plates where '37 water pumps would mount you know it is '36 or earlier. If it is a inserted main it is '36. If it is poured mains, it is early '36 and back. If you have a '33 to '36 car that needs an engine you should be excited because you have it.

I believe there are minor/slight (in the eyes of the beholder) differences from '32 to early '36 engine blocks and there are experts that can give you some things to look for. It wouldn't hurt my feelings too much to have an LB in my '34 cabriolet!

Thanks Ken. That's what I am thinking also. With a flat top distrib it is possible it may be the late '36 with the inserts. As luck would have it, I found a '35 Touring Sedan parked in front of muffler shop this morning on the way home from getting tacos!! It is original..and the engine compartment looks like it has never even been cleaned. It has cast iron heads also. The only thing clean and newer looking is the fuel pump. There is an older Early V8 Club sticker on the windshield. I am going to ask about the owner today to see where it its kept, so I will have a local original to work from..and maybe a new buddy!! You can eliminate the '32 by checking the drain petcocks on the block, near the front, between the exhaust manifolds and the pan. If the petcocks point straight down, the block is a '32. If they point slightly outward, toward the frame rails, the block is later. '32 blocks are rare.

Also, if the number on the transmission is really 18-1,213,265 (punctuation added) the transmission is a late '34. Note that Ford sometimes used the capital "I" (eye) as both a hyphen and a "1" (one) when stamping serial numbers.

Thanks Ken, Deluxe and RSS. I checked the pet cocks and they are angled. That's it for now. My hope is that this is a late '36 with inserts, etc...since I think I have seen that this is the best of that block series. I won't know that until later when I can take the stuff off and look inside. Jerry G

Ole Bill, Ford38v8 is right. You aint lived til you have breakfast tacos in South Texas...just about anything you can think of in hot homemade flour tortillas (not the crisp corn-tortilla-sh*lled tacos you may be used to for lunch or supper). We slap hot flour tortillas around anything, even polish sausage, down here. Es Muy Bueno!!
