I am considering purchasing a '34 ford that is all original except that it has the remains of a second repaint. Wondering if it would still qualify for competition in the rough class. Any exterior rough class judge knowitalls out there??

If your vehicle has been repainted...............it will not qualify for the Rouge Class. It must be original paint. You can only repaint a small portion of the whole vehicle to remain qualified for Rouge. Sorry to tell you this.

Thanks for the reply. Is there a on-line link for the rule book that I could check to confirm?

you're on the EFV8CA website right here. Just use your mouse to find all the confirmation you need.

Click on National Club Information, and then Forms to find the Judging information

upon navigation to the judging rules for the rouge division, I see that the first sentence states: "Vehicles will be considered for certification in one or more of three areas: Interior, Exterior, and/or Running gear (which includes the engine)." So I am lead to understand that I could enter a car that is rouge correct, except for a repaint, to be judged only in the interior and running gear areas. Correct me if I am mistaken. ??

You are correct. Read and absorb the entire section, the Rouge Judges are sharp and can easily point out non-original areas. Congrats in advance if you're able to purchase this car, especially in Rouge condition.

If you enter your car for Rouge judging, you have to declare which area you would like it to be judged in. You can declare one, two or all three areas. If the car qualifies in any area, it will be awarded a Rouge award.
