I need to modify the existing hardline from rear brakes so they are not visible from the rear. I will need a right and left side hose about 17" long and remove all hard lines off the banjo rear end. I have a 38'- 48'wheel cylinders to go to 3/16"standard brake lines on each side off the frame. The hoses will need 1/4" male on wheel cylinder side and female 3/16" to fasten on each side of the frame.

Fred, I assume you are building a custom show car rather than a car to be driven. Flex hoses aren't really meant to take the abuse from flexing through the range of suspension found on most cars. I wouldn't want to bet my life on how long a brake system would hold up like that. You might want to try posting on the Fordbard. I believe those guys are more into custom applications than us old geezers here.

Fred, contact Richard Lacy at the Early V-8 Garage in LaVerne, Ca. ph# 909-392-9761 or Dave Wilton of Paradise, Ca. 530-872-0122. Both of these guys are experts at dealing with early Ford V-8 hydraulic brake systems. I don't see any problem using flex lines at each wheel cylinder. Some new cars with independant suspensions use flex lines at each wheel.

Thanks for your reply Alan, A 17" rubber brake hose are used on millions of modern cars. it just so happens that it's hard to find a rubber brake hose to fit an early ford wheel cylinder and has a female 3/16" on the other end. At 17" inch long ,I feel its safe to have a maximum wheel travel of 14".How much wheel travel do you need anyway with normal driving.I don't plan to race this car at Baja 1000.
