The tool I used on my '46 Coupe, is shown in the picture below. I bought it for about $20 at a Canadian tool store, similar to Harbor Freight in the US. It works well. A bit of grease on the threads is suggested. Back the link nut off until flush with the link stud, place the forked arm between the shock arm and link, and the pivot arm presses against the link stud/nut.

51Woodie, I used similar tools on my 1940 Ford to get the shock links off-worked great!
