Remember, No matter how fancy the brake system is, what stops the car is 4 little hand sized patches of rubber aginst the pavement.

I put them on the front of my 42. We have a lot of hills around here and I noticed they don't seem to fade as much as the originals. Maybe I imagined this to justify the cost?

While Lincoln brakes may make some difference, there is nothing wrong with rebuilding the stock brake system. All parts, including new wheel and master cylinders are readily available at reasonable cost. If I were converting from mechanical to hydraulic brakes, Dave's conversion makes sense, but to just upgrade from the original brakes seems to be overkill.

37 coupe: I installed Linc. brakes on one of my 46"s about 3 years age. I only installled them on the front as the front brakes do most of the stopping. Have been well pleased and can tell a quite a difference..

In latest issue of the V8 Times Dick Flynn suggest to NOT rebuild old Ford hydraulic brakes but rather use Dave Wilton's Lincoln brake conversion. Has anybody done this and felt it was justified or worth the money? Looks like it could be mayby $800-$1000 for all four. I have 39 brakes now on my 37 and so far it stops okay never any panic type stops or anything.Just wonder how all the original 39 and 40 Fords survived with original brakes back in the day.
