Attempting to match a paint via a photo is always a recipe for failure. The best way is to match your existing part. Attempt to access an area that has been covered for the past decades. In your case, I'd suggest you remove the ignition lock mechanism from the tube. The area beneath the mechanism has not been exposed to light, etc. and will be the most accurate area for a good match.

HI I think you could go to a auto paint supply and go though there PAINT CHIP book and choose a color that is very close. take a photo wih your phone might help if the column is out you could take with you to get the exact paint mixed, or you could try mixing the paint your self, by trial and era. go small amounts, hope this helps. Ragtopman, can you post a photo of what you need,?
