Ive read a lot of articles regarding the use of a vacuum gauge when adjusting a Holley carb. I dont understand why the need for plugging any vacuum tubes that are to be disconnected? If the are not connected, then they are not receiving vacuum anyway? Im confused! Any thoughts?

Most reference material that comes with test equipment is very general in nature and tries to cover every situation. There are situations where vacuum could be present in a vacuum line disconnected from the carburetor to connect the vacuum gauge. One of them is when you have a dual diaphragm fuel pump. If your car is like most 1932-1948 Fords, where the vacuum hose just feeds the windshield wipers, there is no need to plug the removed line. Tom
