try 3 feet of gaden hose to your good ear to find the noise, or an unlit bernzeomatic torch to find a vacuum leak

I've had noises such as you describe from the wiper motor and the clock. Try playing with the wiper switch a little while the noise is present (squirt some water on the windshield first to prevent running a dry wiper). Also, if the clock is trying to rewind, but the electromagnet isn't strong enough or isn't getting enough power it will make a buzzing noise. On a newly assembled engine you might make sure all of the spark plugs are tight too.

Also check the base gasket on the carb, make sure the carb is tight, and were the vacuumn line for the wipers on the intake is tight also hope this helps 37RAGTOPMAN checking the base gasket with a little carb cleaner with the nozzel with the straw would be handy,if it stumbles or idle changes this might be the problem, just be careful of fires,

Look for a vacuum leak around the intake manifold, or a cracked vacuum hose to the wipers, etc.

I have put almost 900 miles on my totally restored 47 super deluxe fordor, and for the last 200 or so, it makes a wheezing, or high pitch buzzing noise at idle speeds when it has been run for a while and is warm. Stethoscoped the generator bearings, water pumps, etc and does not seem to be there. Sounds like air being pushed thru an orofice or a small bearing or bushing in process of dying. Removed the distributor and went thru it and all is fine. Any ideas out there.
