Kube, Drain the water or all the air daily? I agree with draining off the water.

Gene, Your thinking is flawed Directions with every compressor advise daily draining of the tank. Mine, an 80-gallon unit seems to "make" a LOT of water each day. That is of course after six to eight hours of usage.

Not trying to be argumentative, but my thinking is that if you drain all the air from your compressor tank you will just draw in more humid air upon start-up and refill. I just close the outlet valve and keep the air that already has some of the moisture separated from it. I do drain the water frequently. Please let me know if my thinking is flawed. thanks, gene

Back in the high school days, the last thing you did at the gas station before locking the door at closing time was to turn off the air compressor and open the valve at the bottom to let the air and water out. Guess I should have mentioned that you closed the valve before you left.

FWIW, I open up the valve on the bottom of portable compressor and let the air out when I am finished using it to get the air and moisture out. Not sure if it helps, but it can't hurt.

It looks to me like the plastic adaptor is scr*w*d into a cut-off valve. The horizontal tab on the left side of the valve rotates to vertical to stop air flow. If that is the case, remove the broken piece and take both pieces to the hardware store for a new adaptor.

I would have very serious doubts about the air tank. They rust from the inside out due to condensed water from humid air. When they fracture the air inside can kill or seriously injure. It appears to be time for a new compressor.

compressor is actually made by speed air and parts are available thru grainger-might give it a try. also you may be able to remove what appears to be a threaded in fitting with an easy out and replace with a metal bushing and a quick disconnect

You may be able to order a new piece though Sears.
