Has anyone out there ever seen one of these before? What was it used for? I can't find out anything on Google. That grille is where the coil would normally bolt on.

Interesting. From your photos, looks to be an aftermarket 1/4” thick aluminum adapter plate. Nice wall hanger!

Adapter to use two coils for ignition. I have not seen this done with a Ford distributor as yours. I have not seen a Roemer Appears to be very heavy modification to the Ford rotor which is not a good idea since one coil on the standard rotor can sometimes lead to arcing over.
