I'm about to disassemble a steering column for my 1939 delux. How do I get the horn button off to remove the steering wheel? Thanks for any advice.

The original assembly sequence of the Ford car had the body drop last, after the steering assembly was installed, so that fact dictates a removal procedure that must be followed: The horn button is one unit with the horn rod which extends to below the steering box. This horn rod must not be bent. If you have an open car, it may be extracted straight out of the shaft after removing the retaining clip at the base. If a closed car, the steering box must be loosed from the frame mount, and the column dropped from the dash mount, in order to tilt the steering column for a straight shot out the driver door.

Thanks Alan, it's an open car. I'll be careful with it. Thanks again for the guidance. Steve
