I looked up the reverse eye method, think I'll stay with original length and thank you for the reply.

Squeaking parts in a leaf spring? Um, that would probably be worn out leaf's. Check the area where the upper leaf contacts the one just below it for wear. You can install longer shackles to lower the car but be forewarned, the ride / handling will suffer. Best to do it correctly and install a reverse eye spring. Mike "Kube" Kubarth

Planning to change squeaking parts in leaf springs and don't know much about changing the shackles to lower the back end? The shackles in the car are 2 1/2" center to center. Thank you
