Semi gloss black seems to be correct; it’s in the book, but I didn’t see it. Thank you again for your help.

We use a product called "chassis black" sold by the Eastwood Company. There was a variation in the paint applied by Ford at the factory, as it was replenished as needed by material supplied by different vendors. It is neither gloss or flat, but a finish in between those types. If you are painting an article that will be exposed to gasoline, use lacquer. Another Eastwood product is radiator paint. It overs the core and tanks of a radiator, but doesn't affect heat transfer.
