hi. I'm a new member to the site. Im working on a 40 ford convertible that was my late grandfathers. It had a 41 style vacuum wiper motor that was cable activated, which is not correct for a 40. I replaced it with a correct motor, but I'm trying to find a replacement rod to control the motor from the knob on the dash. I believe its a convertible/woody only part. Does anyone have a picture of a convertible control rod. Thanks

That rod is the same for all '40 Ford passenger cars. It is widely available as a reproduction piece. Carpenter has the rod (01A-17537) @$9.95. You'll need two rubber grommets, (01A-17577) @ .95¢ each.

Hey Phillip, I saw you'd posted a wanted ad for a '40 convertible wiper control rod shortly after my earlier response to you. You state you "know it's different" than a coupe or sedan. If you insist the rods are different, there is something amiss in your car. Wrong wiper motor? Wrong wiper control switch? Hmmm... different rods? News to me and I am currently restoring my seventeenth '40 Ford. Mike "Kube" Kubarth

Here are photos of the correct wiper motor and rod for your '40 convertible and for all the other '40 coupes and sedans out there...
