Where can I get a spark plug wire set like the originals, that is, with black rubber covered wires and bare copper terminals?

Mine came from Dave at Yesteryear Ford in Mason, Michigan. I believe that they are a Dennis Carpenter reproduction.

We get good quality copper wire cables from C&G (800/266-0470). Assuming you have an V8, ask for 8BA-12259-V8. About $45. That may seem a lot, but plug wires are not a good place to skimp. Be sure to solder the terminals on each end to be sure of continued good contact.

I spoke to tech services at Dennis Carpenter yesterday and they said the spark plug terminals were not copper and the wire covering was not black rubber. I am looking for a set which is correct for judging.Thanks.

The only ones C & G say they have are the black plastic coated wires. I have a set of those from them. Those are not correct for judging. Thanks.

I have had good results buying spark plug wires from MAC'S Antique Auto Parts. They list the "Reproduction Spark Plug Wire Set" for 1949-1950 V8, black, Ford for $40.95 per set. The part number is 8BA-12259-ST as shown in their 1949-59 Ford & Mercury 2010 catalog.

You can try Brillman Co ( http://brillman.com/ ), YnZ http://www.ynzyesterdaysparts.com/pdfs/p3_Wire.pdf and Narragnsett reproductions http://www.narragansettreproductions.com/wiring-harness.html They all have wire and terminals, but you will have to contact them to see if they have what you need.

It is always possible to fabricate your own set of wires using the bulk wire from places such as NAPA. Just use your original wires for templates. Some old terminals are reusable, and often of better quality than the repros. Just be sure it is actually has metal conductors so you can solder the terminals.
