silverchief, the adpter to use is the one used for the pickup 3 speed transmission. If the truck had a four speed transmission that adapter will not work with the early 3 speed transmission.

The stock 49 pickup engine requires an adapter to bolt to the stock truck transmission and that adapter will allow the engine to bolt to a 32-48 passenger car transmission. Here is a link to a photo of the adapter. http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u197/mercurytom/rear-of-adapter.jpg Tom

Will a stock 49 flathead pick up truck engine bolt up to a stock 46 sedan transmission? Or - did the truck engine require a truck transmission?
