'50 car lower steering box cover/ sector housing

The hole for the sector shaft on the outside of that cover is centered, the one on the inside is offset (for adj. the sector to worm play). In what position should that upper offset hole be when the cover is installed? To the passenger side, driver side, rear, or front?? Thank you for the answer. Regards, Steve Lee

I never paid attention to that, I always made a scribe mark on the housing so I could return it to its original position, before I disassemble it. Carefully clean the housing and look to see if someone put scribe marks on it before.

Tom, I got it on in the right position!(by trial and error) If you put it on in the wrong position you can't adjust the sector lash!
