As you said, rings can get stuck to cylinder walls. Valves can also get stuck either at the valve seats or more commonly in the valve guides. These problems are not exclusive to the flathead.

Ok -so do the rings get stuck to the cyl. walls , or ??

Any motor can get struck if not used for a long time under adverse conditions.

Hey Guys ! I hear talk of Ford flathead engines being "stuck" . I never hear of ohv type engines being stuck . So , is it just flatheads , and if so , what causes this dreadful situation ? Thanks - F F
