Looks like Toms link refers to the late style thru flow bendex not the ford style from model T's and all V8 6's up to 1953...........

GK1918, good catch, I did not read the instructions like I should have. To remove the Bendix drive: Bend the locking tabs on the bolt closest to the end of the shaft or furthest from the armature,away from the bolt and remove the bolt. Push the drive towards the starter body and remove the woodruff key and then slide the assembly off of the shaft. Reverse the steps to install the drive.
