VIEWING MULTIPLE TOPICS ON SCREEN: You can choose to see more than 10 Topics at a time ... Log In and choose "Preferences" from the top bar on the Forum page. Scroll down and Change the "Default Topics Returned" parameter to 25 or 50, and save the changes. Since this setting is stored in your browser 'cookies' (if enabled), it seems to use that stored value even if you are not logged in. So, if you use a PC that you haven't logged into the forum from, the setting still seem to remain at the default.
EXTERNAL PHOTO LINKS ON FORUM: You can still use external photo links in your posts on the new forum. They follow the rules of any link in that they have to have the URL link qualified down to the full image file name (example: .jpg). The links will open in a new browser window, the same as an uploaded image attached to a post. Since an image attachment to any post does not display inline with the post, the results are the same. Using links from photo sites such as Photobucket can help in "size" issue with uploaded attachment files. For best viewing in web browsers, photos should be around the 800x600 pixel range, and probably not more than 1024x768. Most cameras today store HUGE jpg image files, as the default settings are in the 7, 8, 10, and 12Mb image sizes. The image files that are then attached are very large, and the browser can't display the full image size without using the scroll bars. Use the re-sizing functions of your photo editing software to reduce the image to 800x600, which reduces the file sixe and the image load time in the browser. Don uses Google's free Picassa3 software, which is an excellent photo management product. All of the photo albums of the Deuce, Grand National, and Auburn that are links on the NORG site were built using Picassa's web creation functions. And it's free? (THANKS to Don Clink for the info!)

Yes I have the book thank you, a very informative purchase but not enough detail unfortunately to help me with the window problem! could do with a parts book type exploded view of the set up to see what goes where. It would be good if someone could confirm what I am doing is correct?
I have worked out that there is a wide channel called batwing inside front of door and a narrow felt covered window channel on the other side opposite to support the window when wound down. Then there is a felt/furry trim on the inside edge of window opening and the same on the window garnish so that when this is fitted, the glass is trapped between the two acting as a channel but not restricting the backward movement of the glass on initial opening which is what the existing channel does now and should have terminated at low level. I have been given an installation leaflet but for a pickup, this shows a deep felt lined channel similar to the batwing arrangement being deep enough to allow window to move backwards but this has rubber bumpers also fitted so clearly different to mine, very confusing. any help/advice appreciated. Do you have the V-8 Club's 35-36 book? If you are a new owner to these cars it is a great book and very helpful with facts regarding these cars. you can purchase it on-line on this site.

Thank you for taking time to reply. Pretty sure I know whats wrong thanks to the UK early Ford club. I have one bat wing at the front (curved edge) and a channel in the lower half of the straight side but what the restorer over there did was run a flexible channel from front around curve and right down to the bottom so holding glass and not allowing it to move back as part of the first operation and the garnish moldings are plain . According to the kit Macs sell the garnishes should have a furry trim around edge and inside the door edge as well which would hold the glass in place and allow full movement back . I would like to know if there is a parts book with exploded view so I could confirm this.
Regarding the wheels being med apple green the data that came with the car says special order but I'm not an expert on pre war Fords in fact I'm new to them, spent the last 35years restoring Ariel Square Fours but now jumped in with both feet as I also have a 1935 roadster. Thanks again for your help

Hi, very nice looking '36 Ford you have, far from being an original car but very nice.
The door window replacement is a very straightforward item providing you have the correct window channels.
Your are correct that the window moves to the rear on the first phase of opening, this is for ventilation, the window then move down.. The front edge of the window stays in the channel and the rear portion is held in place by the "bat-wing"rear channel.
For your info, I have a '36 Ford 5 window which I have owned since 1952, I am the second owner of the car. In some respects my car is very original, original upholstery and accessories. The car has been repainted once, in 1961. Mechanically everything has been changed to a combination of '37-48 parts.
The one thing that is a glaring mistake on your car is the apple green wheels, Ford always painted the wheels body color.
I have attached a few pix of my car for your info. You will have to overlook the chrome dash in the car, that is from my street rodding teen days.. Can't bring myself to bring the car back to total stock.

Hi all, I have a 5 window coupe as in title that had a broken drivers side glass. I have had glass cut to pattern of existing one but really struggling to get the new one right. first thing I noticed is the window moves back slightly before starts to descend. is this right? I'm guessing its a smokers ventilation idea . Ideally I could do with a picture of the channel on the straight side as mine has a flexible type channel all the way round and down inside the door on the straight side. The curved side has a wide channel, I think they are called bat wings down inside the door and the channel starts where that Finnishes . what I don't understand is if the window moves sidewards slightly the the channel on the straight side needs to be deeper as when it is fully closed and moved over it is out of the channel on the straight side. I t is as though the channel on the straight side needs to be the depth of the amount the window moves across. I apologise if this is sounding complicated and a picture is worth a thousand words so if anyone could post a picture of the straight side of the door channel that would be a great help. There are not that many original 5 windows over here (UK) that I know of that I could go and look at. Will try and add a picture of it . Many thanks in anticipation, all advice gratefully received.
