I have an opportunity to purchase a working 1937 Ford gasoline heater. Will this heater fit and work in my 1938 Deluxe Fordor? Ray MG 05-18-2019 @ 6:50 PM reply profile send p.m. Senior Posts: 1263 Joined: Nov 2009 To the best of my knowledge, a gasoline heater was not a Ford authorized accessory in 1937 but rather was an after market accessory so it should work on your car. You'll have to plumb it to your carburetor. It won't be correct for your '38 as an authorized accessory either.... ford38v8 05-18-2019 @ 9:43 PM reply profile send p.m. Senior Posts: 2799 Joined: Oct 2009 Ray, it may have been removed from a 1937 Ford, but no gasoline heater was ever a Ford authorized accessory for 1937 or any other year. That said, if it is in working condition, I see no reason why it wouldn't work in your 1938 Ford. I believe you will find that gasoline heaters, being extremely high efficiency, are not the best choice of heater for use in Kentucky. I'd recommend holding out for a hot water hear, available as optional equipment in Ford cars beginning in 1939, however, some people believe they may have been installed on a few 1938 Fords also. They evolved over the years as the makers refined them. Not all of them look alike. There are a ton of them on Ebay without fittings which makes them useless. Also will need a vacuum plate under the carb which is readably available. 37RAGTOPMAN 05-19-2019 @ 1:35 PM reply profile send p.m. Senior Posts: 1971 Joined: Oct 2009 HI dream38v8 Its a good choice, it is almost instant heater, and if not interested in SHOW, water heater is a little harder to install, with you installing heater outlets, that you will have to find, and they take more time, you might have in install thermostats also, if not in engine already anything to install in your car may deduct point's I assume you want a DRIVER, to ENJOY,!! I think it would be good in any place where it gets cold, did you see it work ? you will have to install a small gas line tubing in your carburetor, and a vacuum pickup under the carburetor, special plate made for FORD V8 see if you can get the instructions, with the heater, I am sure you can get copy's if he does not have any, the way it works you pull out the knob, that lets the vacuum pull a small about of gas, were it get burned in a chamber, I had a friend had on a 41 CHEV, and it would heat the car in no time, there are parts, for these on E-BAY, I heard these heater were used in AIRCRAFT, my 2 cents, 37RAGOPMAN Dream38v8 05-20-2019 @ 5:10 AM reply profile send p.m. New Member Posts: 178 Joined: May 2016 I like the idea of a heater, but will continue to use blankets if needed. Not knowing what parts are available with the heater plus it not be a Ford accessory I've decided to forgo the purchase. Thanks to everyone that responded to my post. Ray 37RAGTOPMAN 05-21-2019 @ 1:57 PM reply profile send p.m. Senior Posts: 1971 Joined: Oct 2009 the only heater that FORD Authorized HEATER was a exhaust manifold heater, that they sold, in 1930's, was installed on the right side of engine, directions said take it off in the summer, a lot of work. to install and maybe not the best choice, exhaust fumes,? this is very hard item to find in good condition,, maybe in 1939 1940 they may have used a hot water, I had on for my 37 but never installed and sold it my 2 cents 37RAGTOPMAN I would assume the FORD DEALERS, would install any HEATER, they could supply for their customers, there were many makers. of various Models they are in the business to make money.
