VIEWING MULTIPLE TOPICS ON SCREEN: You can choose to see more than 10 Topics at a time ... Log In and choose "Preferences" from the top bar on the Forum page. Scroll down and Change the "Default Topics Returned" parameter to 25 or 50, and save the changes. Since this setting is stored in your browser 'cookies' (if enabled), it seems to use that stored value even if you are not logged in. So, if you use a PC that you haven't logged into the forum from, the setting still seem to remain at the default.
EXTERNAL PHOTO LINKS ON FORUM: You can still use external photo links in your posts on the new forum. They follow the rules of any link in that they have to have the URL link qualified down to the full image file name (example: .jpg). The links will open in a new browser window, the same as an uploaded image attached to a post. Since an image attachment to any post does not display inline with the post, the results are the same. You can use multiple external links within a post. This link is from photos on a site from Don Clink's 'Deuce@75' albums:

Using links from photo sites such as Photobucket can help in "size" issue with uploaded attachment files. For best viewing in web browsers, photos should be around the 800x600 pixel range, and probably not more than 1024x768. Most cameras today store HUGE jpg image files, as the default settings are in the 7, 8, 10, and 12Mb image sizes. The image files that are then attached are very large, and the browser can't display the full image size without using the scroll bars. Use the re-sizing functions of your photo editing software to reduce the image to 800x600, which reduces the file sixe and the image load time in the browser. Don uses Google's free Picassa3 software, which is an excellent photo management product. All of the photo albums of the Deuce, Grand National, and Auburn that are links on the NORG site were built using Picassa's web creation functions. And it's free? (THANKS to Don Clink for the info!)

On this page Members can add optional information such as their City,State, Country; Occupation; Hobbies: list a Homepage; list AOL Instant Messanger Handle; Signature; "Make Email Address viewable to others;" and even change the number of Default Topics shown on a page. WHEN others click on your profile, they will see this information.

Buckyboy,according to the V-8 Club's 35-36 book the 36 dash board was painted Benton Gray Metallic until May of 1936. In May the deluxe cars had straight grained walnut woodgtain and the standard cars had mahogany grained woodgrain. This information was found on pages 37-38 of the book. The serial number on the frame will determine if it is an early or late car.

This from the Early Ford V8 Album re: the '36 Ford.
""The Deluxe Fords of 1935 had metallic gray dashboards while the Standards came with maroon. 1936 saw the return of woodgrained dashes--walnut on Deluxe and mahogany on the Standards. Early 1936 Roadster and Phaeton dashboards were gray, but these too were woodgrained toward the end of the model run"". Hopefully this will give you a place to start. The '35/36 book might give you better guidance as to what you have and how it should be appointed. Ken

Thanks. I am new to flathead Fords and to the club. I think I have settled on a 1936 at this point and plan to purchase the 1935-36 book shortly but have a 36 I am looking at and will probably not have the book in time so any tips on a 36 five-window coupe, including what color the dash should be, would be much appreciated.

If you are restoring a car, the books are invaluable. If you have questions about a particular model, post the model in this forum and someone will provide the information.

For 1936 there were different finishes depending upon when the car was made, open or closed model, and standard or Deluxe.

questions you haven't thought of yet.

41 was wood grain. Super deLuxe = Kelobra Grain, DeLuxe = Ebony Grain.

You should buy a 41 - 48 Book from the clum. You can buy it on this website

Great. Thanks. So is there a place where I can find out what is correct in terms of the dash/instrument panel color? I am particularly intersted in the 1936, 1939, and 1941 model years; and most interested in the 1936 year.

The finish on the instrument panel (dash) is specific to the year and model of the car. Some panels were painted and others were wood grained and this could have changed within a model year, as it did in 1936.

The panel and trim colors were not the same as the exterior colors in the 35-41 years. Some of them may have been close in shade to an exterior color, such as the maroon on the 1940 Deluxe panel.

I was wondering if the dash on all 1935-1941 Ford cars should be woodgrained or was this only on certain models (like Deluxes or Super Deluxes, etc.)? I have seen several cars including freshly restored cars with the dash painted the same color as the body or another solid color and am wondering if this is correct or if the dash should be woodgrained. Thanks.
