Hello, does the long shoe go to the back side took my brakes apart and one side is different than the other thanks ,John

Primary shoe [long lining] goes to the front.

fatso2114. cliftford is right on. Assuming you have the stock Ford-Lockheed brakes, the long shoe, or as the manual calls it, the "forward shoe" goes to the front. If the brakes were changed to the Ford-Bendix type (single anchor point at the top of the backing plate), then the long shoe goes on the back side. I gather by your question, that you don't have a service manual, so I would suggest that you get your hands on the 1939-1948 Service Manual. The info on adjusting is on page 112 - 113.
