hi guys could anyone tell me if there is much difference between an australian and american 33 phaeton apart from the obvious righthand drive. many thanks

There is quite a bit of difference in the internal construction of the body. The Australian version contains much more wood. Ford shipped chassis to Australia, but the bodies were made by local craftsman using older construction techniques.

Robert, I believe there is a different spare tire mounting bracket on the Australian version. DeLuxe40's answer regarding internal bracing explains the apparent reason for that difference.

thanks for your help guys,i think i will need to see an actual car and take lots of pictures and measurements if i can find one,other wise rebuild in the u.s style but i would still like to keep it the original right hand drive.

Rob The Oz 33/4 tourer bodies sit on the chassis whereas the others go over the chassis. U can tell by the doors. There is a filler panel below the doors and on the USA bodies the doors go all the way down to the running boards. HTH Manuel in Oz
