If use a merc crank in a frenc flathead what rods would i use. Ford or merc?

Ford and Mercury rods are the same for a given year engine. The difference in the length from the top of the piston to the center of the rod journal is accommodated by the shorter piston pin to piston crown dimension of the Mercury pistons.

Use pistons for the crankshaft that you have, 3 3/4" stroke or 4" stroke.The Ford and Mercury designation only mean something if you are using period Ford pistons.
