The correct engine for a 41 V-8 has a raised intake surface, the 81A block has a machined flat intake surface. If you want the correct block, you might have to search outside of CT for a core or rebuilt engine. You might try exploring shipping from and to a business location. Usually the cost is lower. Check around for businesses that repair trucks and cars to see if one will do you a favor or provide the drop off service for a small fee.

Thank you to all my replies. Might someone have an 81-A-B all rebuilt to swap for a 59A block core perhaps? This could be an opportunity to install the correct block.

Try New England Engine in Peabody, MA. Talk to Roy or Norm, and tell them of my recommendation. Phil Lukens

Found this list of machine shops in CT. http://www.crankshaftco.com/engine-repair-directory/connecticut.html Second the recommendation about contacting other Early Ford V-8 club members in the area. Lots of options, but you get what you pay for. Experience and competency with these things is not usually cheap.

Have you contacted one of the local Regional Groups of the Early Ford V-8 Club? They may be able to help you out.

Thanks, but still not close enough. I don't own a truck, but I'm willing to rent one for a day trip. I heard of someone in Peabody Mass? I'm not looking for the best in the business, just someone reasonable, experienced and more local to my area

Walt Dupont in Gardiner, Maine is one of the best in the business. Not CT, but still New England.
