I have an engine and would like to know a little more about how old it is. I can’t get to the back of the bell housing to see any numbers, hover I have got numbers stamped on the cylinder heads and wonder if these mean anything?? Any help in identification would be a great help Thanks Marc

Looks to be a 1937 engine (21 stud) with commercial heads/service replacement heads 77E 6050A and 77 6050A. . . . 78-730B

Tony, Please educate me, why isn't it a 1937-38 engine? Do you see something? Charlie Stephens

Charlie, I posted that it appears to be a 1937 21 stud. Could be a 1938. Not sure where the mix up is. Please explain.

My question was is there something about the picture that makes it a '37 and not a '37-'38? I think "could be a '38" answers my question. Charlie Stephens
