To the best of my knowledge 1948 and older camshafts are not compatible with 1949 and later engines because the valve angles in the engines are different. You will want to have a special camshaft ground which has the early camshaft front features on a shaft which features the correct lobe indexing for a late engine.

You will need the early style cam, 42-48 front cover, and the distributor. You may also need early style water pumps, a wide belt crank pulley for a 48-53 truck and 48 fan and generator.

For an engine shop in PA I would try Precision Engine in Reeders, PA. Address: 2056 Mountain Road, Stroudsburg, PA 19360. I have had them do work for me on a smaller engine and was very happy. They do all sorts of engine machine work from stock to race cars. Tel 570-629-6300.
