Was there a mounting pad for the Ford trunk emblem? The "EF V8 Ford Book" doesn't mention it and the pictures are not large enough to tell (at least for me). Any assistance most appreciated. William (feeling visually impaired) Brown.

There was no pad for the trim, called the "trunk spear". After giving my '47 convertible a very expensive paint job, I didn't want the raw edges of the spear to cause damage, so I made a pad by tracing the spear and cutting out the pad. If you carefully make the pad just wide enough to be under the edges of the spear, it should not be evident when in place. I used inner tube rubber, but any material will work. Most home centers have several types.

Don't have an expensive paint job, but I like your idea Supereal. Won't be the first inner tube pad I've made for exterior trim. Thanks LARGE for the information. William (I'll make it myself) Brown
