Does anybody know the plunger length for the solenoid for a 53 Sunliner? Is it 1" or a longer length? All of the available new units are 1" only. Does anybody know a source for rebuilt solenoids with longer shaft lengths? Thanks!

The overdrive solenoids were the same from 49-55 (FAA-6916-A). The difference for the convertible is the adapter that allows the solenoid to clear the "X" member of the frame.

The solenoid for the 49 & 50's convertible are different. The shaft length is longer. Yes they have the adapter because of the X frame, but the solenoid is different. Call Fifth Avenue Antique Auto Parts, 785 632-3450. They might be able to help. He was working on getting someone to rebuild the longer shaft ones.

49 5- convertible shaft lengths are the same. The difference is the orientation of the flats to position the weep hole at the bottom.
