Steve, I do not have a 50 Ford, so I cannot give you a good answer. I don't know if you could remove the celluloid temporarily to see if that would work. The 55 bulb is brighter than the 53 bulb, but it is also bigger and may not fit.

Tom, If I take the green celluloid "spacer/color changer out," and put in a clear celluloid one in, do you think that will fix the problem? I think that green celluloid ring spaces the face of the clock back and the light is supposed to shine through it, onto the phosphorous on the painted dial. The phosphorus is long gone from the sunlight, so it doesn't work anymore like it did when new. (Read my reply to the guy with the problem with the dim instrument lights.)

My 1950 clock light is on when the light switch is on for "parks" or "headlights," but the clock is not lit up? Why? Is it being blocked by that green plastic around the face on the inside? If not, what do I have to do so it lights up? Regards, Steve Lee
