Hello, Can someone recommend a good supplier for the Benton gray rubber floor mats for a 37 Fordor? There are lots of suppliers, but I want to go with one that makes a very close version of the original mats. Perhaps they are all made by a single source? Thanks for your help, Gregg

Last I knew California Custom still makes mats "to-order".

Drbrown, can you provide a link to their website, so I can see if they will make one for my car?

I looked at the Dennis Carpenter stuff online. It does look decent, and has the jute backing. Probably will go with that. Thanks! gregg

FYI, I ordered a set from Joe's Antiques (who gets them from Dennis Carpenter). Will let you know my experience when I get them. New floorboards and some sheetmetal replacements are installed, waiting on the mats now. Gregg

I don't know if it helps, but about four years ago i painted a front floor mat for a '49 Ford convertible Benton Gray. The directions for the paint (Imron) and for the prep work came from Lauren Matley, Early Ford V8 paint advisor. He assured me the paint would not peel or come off if the directions were followed. So far he was spot on as I am completely happy with the finished product. Today it looks as good as the day it was painted -- and no problems. If interested, i'd be happy to send the directions he gave me. Jim Farrell

Hi Jim, That is amazing, never would have guessed that rubber mats could be painted and hold up over the years. I would appreciate if you could send me the directions. Even if I don't need it for the mats, it may come in useful for other restoration I am doing. Feel free to PM me. Thanks, gregg

From an August 30th 2014 forum posting (either here or at Ford Barn) all I saved is from thread started by "silverchief" .... a member "TonyM" replied in a message saying "California Car Cover Company". Silvechief was seeking a mat with a Ford logo embossed on it. I obtained a Dennis Carpenter mat for my '47 coupe via Joe's Antique Auto for $145 ..... fit great and well made. High density cotton-type attached backing. Don't think anyone uses jut padding anymore
