Could the knobs have been a accessory that the FORD DEALERS SOLD,as extras ? makes you wonder,if they were standard equipment or add ons, is there any advertising ads for this, my 3cents worth, 37RAGTOPMAN

Today I went back through the 35-36 restoration manual put out by the V-8 Club. Here's what I discovered; In early 35 some of the gear shift knobs were similiar to the 37 knob with the V-8 logo. In January '35 the oval shift knob gave way to the round knob like the Model A. The standard cars had a black knob and the deluxe cars had a taupe colored knob. In '36 the standard cars used the same round black knob and the deluxe cars had the round knob in Benton Gray. In May 36 the Benton Gray knob got a color change to Russett Brown. In August 36 the shift knob was again changed to a knob similiar to the 37 knob with the V-8 logo embossed on top. This information is on pages 39-40 of the V-8 Club's 35-36 book. My original answer was correct to a point, but the book gives much more information than my original answer.

Was same black shift knob as a 1928 TO 36 FORD. one guy had 2 for sale,[165.00}one black and one dark brown, looked like a 1937 1938,with the FORD V8 logo, but was indented instead of raised said they were for LATE 1936, but for my money if you had the black one, it would also be also correct for judging, my 3 cents worth,37RAGTOPMAN

The 36 uses the round knob like the Model A. There's a good photo of the knob on pages 35 and 40 of the V-8 Club's 35-36 restoration manual.
