I need to replace the front and rear bumpers on my 36 coupe. Can any one advise if the replacements available from the usual suppliers are of good quality. Also what do you recommend stainless shel or not. Thanks Martin

If you have a set of originals that are NOT mangeled badly, have them rechromed. Repops are not as springy and of poor steel. SS have a slight yellow color and just don't look right. Don't mistakenly buy 35's which are identicle except for the very ends. 36's have a much sharper folded over ends on them. 35 ends are folded almost straight up + down. Good luck. Ive had a 36 for 25 yrs.. ken ct.

As ken states, none of the repo bumpers are spring steel like the originals. Good originals rechromed are the best if you can find good cores. Repos are the last resort.

I think DC Carpenter has new chrome repros. They are $415 a piece with no hardware.

A good chrome shop can straighten them.

Take the bumpers to a few good chrome shops. Even if you have to drive some miles to get there If they declare them unfit for repair and re-plate only then would I buy repops.

Repro bumpers are good quality. To re-chrome one in Houston is $500 plus the price of the bumper. On my 36 I have one repro and one original. I can't tell the difference. Just sold one new repro for $300. Spring steel? Does it matter? How many cars are you going to bump with it?

Spring steel? Does it matter? How many cars are you going to bump with it? Yes it does matter A small bump from a post or anything else like somebody bumping you on a show field or parking lot will bend the repros. Been there, done that!
