We have all done it, either on the trunk or hood. I think we should all have a "hard hat" embellished with the EFCA emblem, of course. I have been working on old Fords for more than sixty years, and still bang my old gray head!

I do it when I have the lift gate up, but not the tailgate down on my '46 Woodie. Now whenever my lift gate is up the tailgate goes down. After several "knots" on my head I finally learned. Glad to see I'm not the only one.

And................I have also, but most recently into the lift gate of a Lincoln MKX. So, so much for modern product safety. You have to remember, it was never a problem for Henry --- he wasn't tall enough to walk into it.

I've done it more than once on my '39 Tudor. I guess Ford didn't learn anything about consumer product safety between 1938 and 1939.

I think there are a lot of us with head scars to prove that you are not alone!

Welcome to the "Head Bangers" club. I thought that I was the only one that was distracted enough to bang my head on the trunk lid.

Today as I walked around the back of my '38 Deluxe Fordor I walked directly into the open truck lid. After my wife stopped the bleeding (1 1/2 in. gash) I returned to the '38. I was trying to determine why I did what I did. Turns out when the truck lid is open it extends beyond the rear fenders / bumper. So as I was walking around the car following it's contour I ran directly into the open trunk lid. Just a heads up!
