'48 Ford that was disassembled when I bought it and I need to know how the line from the tank to the cowl was held to the frame. Clips to the lower frame flange or bolted to the side?? Thanks

If its the same as my 40, there are 2 clips that mount to the side of the frame to hold the fuel line. There should be 2 1/4" holes, one near the master cylinder and the other further back. The clips are held by 1/4-20 bolts with locking nuts.

I think this is correct, but not positive. Thanks.

I recently replaced the gas line on my 1939 Tudor. There are four clips along the inside of the frame channel. The clips use the same bolts that attach the running board to the frame. There is also a clip that attaches the line to the top of the rear cross member. The screw for this clip threads into a tapped hole in the cross member.

Larry, You are correct in that there are a total of four clips. Three are along the frame rail, the fourth is atop the rear cross member. Two of the clips utilize the lower carriage bolt located at each running board brace. Those are of course 5/16". Mike "Kube" Kubarth

Cecil, I am sorry that I gave you a wrong answer. The 46-48 fuel line is not held in place like the 1940 Mercury or the 1939-40 Ford. I suggest that you get in touch with the 46-48 Adviser or look again in the 41-48 Ford Book. The 46 Chassis Parts catalog is not helpful in this area.

The book isn't any help. I am in no hurry, so I will get it together eventually. Thanks
