Tom , that problem is solved with the installation of the 9 small rubber boots on the wires as they go into the cap. Which I include with a dist purchase and with a just cap sale. This stops all water leaks. OMO. Ford messed up on that one. LOL. ken ct.

I agree with Ken ct that the helmet distributor is better than the 42 crab style distributor. The 42 distributor was prone to shorting out in rain storms. Speedway Motors sells adapter plates. You will not need one if you have a post WWII camshaft that needs a button with the helmet distributor, just a post war timing cover. http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Search?query=crab+distributor+adapter+plate

Currently have helmet distributor. Want to convert to a crab type used 1942 and up. Helmet has three hole mounting to timing plate. I had a chance to purchase one last year but wife got very sick so attention went where it should. The plate has three hoes to mount on timing plate it also has two hoes so you can attach a crab distributor. In addition the plate has a section where the vaccum goes into, and a channel was drilled to allow vaccum to reach into the crab distributor. Since we're putting on this plate an adaptor is required for distributor to revolve any help as to where I can purchase appreciate ford103041@ gmail.com. Decided on crab type 9/14/16
