I agree that the Mack Hils book is pretty much a picture book, but sometimes pictures are helpful. Rebuilding The Famous Flathead is pretty good.

The Ford Pickups 1932-1952 by Mack Hils is pretty much a picture book. Some information, lots of pictures.

The 1935-36 Ford Book by the Early V8 Club was written by enthusiasts specifically for the purpose of educating restorers on the way Henry built them. Widely accepted as the most informative book on the subject, available from many sources, including this website.
