TomO: Thanks for enlightening me as well as others. I was unaware of the 134 in. wheelbase tie-in. Roadster 5440: Sounds like this emblem is not "rare" per-se, but was only used on big trucks with the 95 hp engine.

Stroker, I was looking through my Service Letters for another reason and found the location of the badge on the upper hood ornament. The "95" was only available on the 134" chassis and larger, that is why I had never seen one. City boys like me did not get into trucks much and something that big was not on every corner. Thanks for straightening me out.

TomO, it's been over 40 years since I last looked at that truck, but I believe it was at the leading edge of what I would call a hood ornament at the upper front of the hood. As I recall, it was a small round insert with "95" embossed. We also had a similarly equipped 41, but that did not have any such badge.

Stroker, So am I. Where was the 95? I found the P/N for the motor type tag. P/N 0??-8259-B, where the? is replaced by the motor type. It says that it goes on the "radiator center ornament". Is this the hood ornament? It is not called that in the parts catalog.

TomO: Our 1940 Ford farm truck was purchased new in So. Cal and had the 95 on it. I just always assumed it was common to all 40's that had the more powerful engine. Now I'm confused!

All 1940 conventional cab trucks had the same hood top ornament, hood release handle and grill side ornament. I cannot find the number 95 on any of these.
