If I use a gas cap with a seal then pressure builds up in the tank and vapors escape between the level bung and the tank and I can smell gas in the cab. If I use a cap that does not seal, then I smell gas near the filler neck. Anyone know how I can vent the fuel filler system? (New gas tanks are not available, that I can find.) Thanks for your help.

Your fuel tank requires a vented cap. Using a non-vented cap could cause performance problems (fuel starvation) and is dangerous to your health. To reduce the fumes near the filler pipe, you can try keeping the fuel level in the tank lower. Stick the nozzle of the gas pump into the tank as far as it can go and don't top off the tank when the automatic shutoff on the gas pump shuts off. Because the tank is inside the cab, I don't know of any good way to add or change the venting system.

In addition to Tom's advice check the gasket under the gas gauge sending unit. If's old and cracked it can also allow fumes in the cab. In addition check the hose that joins the neck to the tank. They also get old and crack and don't make a good seal around the neck. If it's never been changed it's long overdue.
