I am planning on removing the bed from my 37 PU. I want to expose as much of the frame as I can to remove the old paint, rust and grease. How easy or difficult will this be? Thanks

It shouldn't be too tough to lift the bed off of the frame if you have an engine hoist with 1 ton or greater capacity.

I used 1 inch square tubing and bolted it in the bed pockets. I then drilled holes in the top of the square tubing and connected chain to all four corners. Engine hose worked good -- but there was a lot of swaying. There are bed hoisting equipment-- but most are for beds with a inside lip, where as you bed has an outside lip.

Lenny, Four bolts to remove the bed and of course, disconnect the wiring at the tail lamp(s). Removing the bed can easily be done with four men. I'd recently installed a complete bed with the help of just one other guy. They are not that heavy but admittedly a bit awkward.

We are about to work on a '37 as well right after we finished installing these new truck wheels, suspension and tires on the current truck project. Good to hear the truck bed on the'37 is easy to remove.
