The Ford logo battery is correct for the 39 - 48 Mercury. The Mercury logo battery didn't show up until 1948.

Need some clarification on the battery for my 1940 Mercury - some club members tell me originally it the had Ford logo batteries with gold oval. When checking to buy one from Antique Battery Co. or Axion they both show a Mercury logo battery for the 1939-1940 Merc. Anyone have the correct answer - these batteries are expensive and want to make the right decision for showing at Thousand Oaks. Jerry Luthin
