If you are going to put the engine in a 1949 Mercury, the answer is yes. If you are putting the transmission in a Ford, you will have to make some modifications to the car.

The answer is a qualified yes. It will bolt on, and you will need the relay and controls. The rear mount and driveshaft will have to be modified. Of importance is the rear end gearing. You will need to determine what you have to know if it will fit the use of the overdrive.

Is a 49 Mercury 3speed transmission with overdrive adaptable to a 1949 Ford V8 engine?
