I would like to find a set of the small stainless trim that goes on top of each fender (centered on each headlight on the 46 Mercs. For lack of a better word, what are these called and any suggestions to where I can find them? Thanks.

Do you mean the ornament that sits on top of the fender (P/N 29A-16210-B)? That ornament was used from 1942-1948 and to my knowledge is not being reproduced. It is not stainless, it is chrome plated pot metal. You will have to contact the vendors that sell used and NOS parts for Mercury. Waymon Brownlee in GA ( (770) 963-7315) specializes in the 42-48 Mercury, Glenn Marion ( http://www.glennmarionparts.com/ ) has lots of used and NOS parts for our cars and Mike Dennis ( http://www.glennmarionparts.com/ )is another source. If your parts are not listed on their web site, give them a call as they may know someone that has the part. Your other option is to advertise months site, in the V-8 Times, in Hemmings or on the Ford Barn.

Yes sir, that is what I was asking about. Appreciate the information. I wonder why Ford did not use these for they look really nice. Thanks again.

Steve, the Fords had less trim because they were a cheaper car. The Mercs cost more and Ford made sure the Merc buyer got more for the money.
