The Stromberg will fit, but the 94 carburetor is a better carburetor for your 40. A correctly rebuild 91-99 model will make your car perform as designed. There were many advances in carb technology between the time the Stromberg 97 was designed and the Chandler Groves design in 1937.

No problem all hookups are same place, only the gas line will come in a little lower at carb end, just bend as necessary to fit. [must go straight in not at a angle] ken ct.

Will a Stromberg 97 fit on a 1940 engine? Has anyone made this install and what might have to be modified for this fit? A big thanks to all responders.
