Sometimes when I put the key in the lock to unlock the trunk the complete lock comes out of the handle. What missing?I am a bit lost. No. 2 Question Do you always half to use the key to unlock to open the trunk. Is it like the gas cap always half to use the key?

There is a small, spring loaded pin in the cylinder that pops up and secures the cylinder to the handle. Your problem could be either the handle or the cylinder. If you have the stock Ford trunk handle and cylinder, the key will not come out when the handle is unlocked.

It isn't unusual for the handles to wear to the point the key cylinder will come loose. When my '47 was rear ended a couple of years ago, I had to replace the NOS trunk handle. Bob Drake's version was almost as good as the original, and had the benefit of being able to open and close the trunk without having to use the key each time, but could still be locked, if so desired.Handles and parts are shown in the C&G catalog, if Drake can't supply it. www.cgfordparts.com
