Hello Members, I have a 1940 Fordor Standard, which indicates it has but one taillight - on the driver's side. This vehicle is very close to being stock - 6 volt, positive ground. Of course, it has no directional signals. I would like to obtain a complete light kit for this vehicle. I drive it at night, but probably shouldn't as is. Ideally, this kit would contain a rear LED light bar that I could mount just above the license plate, front directional indicator lights that could be mounted to the bumper or similar, and the steering column mounted directional lever. And if there's such a thing as 6VDC LED sealed beam headlights, I'd be interested in those, also. Any advise or recommendations? I am all ears. Thank you very much. Regards, Barney Bowerman

Dont have the answer for your LED questions, but for your 3rd light, whether mounted in the rear window or above your rear license plate-- contact BrakeLighter https://www.brakelighter.com Great service, works like you want it and is easy to install.

The single tail light is original for the 1940 Ford Standard. Some states required the second tail light in 1940. The original fender without the tail light is rather rare so I suggest you not modify that fender. You will also note there is reinforcement around the tail light hole. Original tail lights are somewhat easy to find and there are LED light bulbs that work well on 6V systems. Adding the second tail light, in the proper fender would still make the car original.

If you want to install turn signals on a 1940 Ford without having to use additional external lights which don't look right on the car, you can purchase several items separately and put them together to accomplish the task. C&G offers a 1940 Tail Light Assembly and several different universal turn signal kits you can choose from. If you want to package the front turn signal lights within the original parking light lenses, you will have to get a little creative and use a small globe ("hot rod") two-filament bulb with a tail/ brake light socket. https://cgfordparts.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=tail%20light%20assembly&finder%5B1%5D=4776&finder%5B2%5D=4874&finder%5B3%5D=5056&find=find

Barney,i also have a 3rd brake light mounted at bottom of split window in my '37 and it works fantastic. most of are old fords the tailights are mounted so low on are fat fendered cars that these distracted drivers with their smokin, drinkin, eatin, and fiddlin with their d*mn phones has saved my a$$ many times. every time i'm getting ready to slow to stop i look in rear view and give em a couole a taps on the pedal usually wakes em up. also have used ledlight.com for head light bulbs and amazon for dash instmnt and parking bulbs. Tom.

If you convert the front parking lights to turn signals you should use the 41 pickup parking light lenses. They make the turn signal lights show up much better. I have used them on both my 40's. The lenses fit right in to your current headlight rims.

When my one-light Standard is out after dark, I hang this on the rear bumper. Bright flashing red warning light. https://www.harborfreight.com/56-lumen-emergency-triangle-led-work-light-63722.html
