A good vacuum wiper with Rain-X does the job.

I ran RC helicopter linkage from the knob in the photo to a toggle switch for a while to control the electric wiper motor. That electric wiper motor failed, and I replaced it with a newer version with a two speed switch later. More recently, I got rid of the electric motors and went back to vacuum-both for authenticity and because even with the varying speed of the vacuum motor, it does a better job than either of the two electric motors (both of which ran to slowly to clean the windshield effectively).

That is the authentic control for the wipers. See page 1-36, figure 1-68. Mike "Kube" Kubarth

I have scoured "It's Ford For '40", what is this is for? It does nothing that I can see. My car was changed to an electric wiper set-up with a toggle switch added near the convertible top knob. Was this the original wiper switch (valve)?
