Jay, the narrow bumper is for the clutch pedal. The "cut off" side of the bumper is to clear the frame rail.

fortyford: Was re-installing my headlight dimmer switch today and remembered your post about tight clearance at the clutch pedal . I have adequate clearance there. I had replaced the pedal rubber bumper stops, and one of the bumpers came with a side narrower than the others. Wasn't sure where the narrow side was to go, but looked like it should go next to the headlight switch for clearance. Can't tell from your photo if you have a narrower bumper next to the switch. To see the bumper I am talking about, go to this site and then to catalog page 14: https://www.joesantiqueauto.com/catalog.html

You have a later after market switch in there. That may be part of the issue. However, even with a concourse correct switch, there isn't a lot of clearance between the switch and pedal. The photo I'd attached is a correct switch. I believe it is a tad slimmer than yours. Hey, as long as there is no interference between the pedal and wires, you're "good to go".

On my 40 the wire connections on the head light dimmer switch are very close and almost rub the clutch pedal bumper. Is this normal or do I by chance have the wrong dimmer switch or it mounted the wrong way?
